Phalanx-IT was born of frustration in having to wait for the various niches within the umbrella of ‘IT’ to get things done. The Hardware support team needed to liaise with the software support team, who needed to communicate with the networking and infrastructure support team, who were waiting for the finance team to sign off. The engineers knew what to do, how to do it and all the right skills and knowledge were there, but in a typical 8-10 hour working day, we were spending half of that waiting, or worse, in meetings.
Project Management was clearly needed and someone needed to take ownership of the jobs that needed to get done, be accountable for them, given the authority to action them, and deliver them on time, on budget and at scale.
